Asalamu alaekum wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh
Muslim Brothers & Sisters,
You know Zakāt is important.
But the question is…
Not because you don’t care.
Not because you’re neglectful.
Not because you lack faith.
But because Zakāt can be confusing.
Different rulings · Different opinions · Different calculations
So if you’ve ever found yourself wondering…
Then you know exactly how frustrating that uncertainty can be. Because while you’re searching for answers…
“Did I fulfil this obligation correctly?”
THE TRUTH IS THIS
Especially today, when wealth is no longer just cash in hand. Now there are savings accounts, business inventory, pensions, gold jewellery, investments, and cryptocurrency — and everywhere you look, there are different answers. One scholar says one thing. A video online says another. A friend says something completely different.
And somewhere in the middle of all that confusion, you are simply trying to obey Allah correctly.
And that is what makes Zakāt different.
They are real families. Real people in real communities across Nigeria. These are people Allah Himself identified as deserving recipients.
And Allah did not create Zakāt merely as a financial obligation. He created it as a means through which wealth flows from those He has blessed to those He has tested. Every time Zakāt reaches its rightful recipients, a hardship is eased. A burden is lifted. A community becomes stronger.
That is why this obligation deserves more than guesswork. It deserves certainty.
WHAT THE QUR’AN SAYS
Allah did not merely recommend Zakāt. He commanded it again and again, often in the very same breath as Ṣalāh. Prayer connects you to Allah. Zakāt reflects that connection in your dealings with His creation. And the consequences of neglecting it are not light.
“And those who hoard gold and silver and do not spend it in the way of Allah — give them tidings of a painful punishment.”
Sūrat al-Tawbah
This is not said to frighten you unnecessarily. It is said because you deserve the full picture. A Muslim who understands the seriousness of Zakāt does not treat it casually. And a Muslim who understands its rewards does not delay it.
WHAT YOU GAIN
Because Zakāt is not a loss. It never was.
The word Zakāt itself carries the meanings of purification, growth, and blessing. When you pay Zakāt, you are not reducing your wealth — you are purifying what remains and opening the door to barakah that no salary increase, business deal, or investment can manufacture.
“Wealth does not decrease because of charity.”
The Prophet ﷺ
“Wealth is not merely a blessing.
It is also a trust.
A trust that will one day be questioned.”
THE FULL PICTURE
And that is the painful part. The obligation is serious. The rewards are real. The people waiting are real. Yet year after year, sincere Muslims still find themselves in the same place — uncertain, second-guessing, and unsure whether they have truly fulfilled what Allah required.
Not because they reject Zakāt. Not because they do not care. But because nobody ever explained it clearly. Especially for their own Nigerian situation — with their own assets, their own currency, and their own financial realities.
That pattern of confusion kept repeating itself But that is about to change.
Who am I and why am I saying all this?
A student of knowledge& Educator · Teaching Islamic Sciences since 2010 · Tawḥīd, Uṣūlu Tafsīr, and Fiqh
For more than a decade, I have been teaching Islamic sciences to students both in physical classrooms and online. I have sat with salary earners who were unsure whether their savings had completed a full lunar year. I have answered questions from traders who had no idea how to value their inventory for Zakāt purposes. I have spoken with pensioners wondering whether their retirement funds were zakātable. I have helped business owners determine what counts, what does not count, and how to avoid both underpaying and overpaying.
And one pattern kept repeating itself across all of them — the confusion was not caused by a lack of sincerity. It was caused by a lack of clarity.
People were searching. Watching videos. Reading articles. Asking friends. Listening to different opinions. Yet after all that effort, they still had the same question: “Am I actually doing this correctly?”
That question is what motivated this guide. I wanted to create a practical resource that takes an obligation many Muslims find intimidating and explains it clearly, step by step, in a way that makes sense for real Nigerian Muslims living in today’s world. Because clarity should not be a luxury. When it comes to an obligation as important as Zakāt, clarity should be available to every Muslim.

IS THIS FOR YOU?
In short — if you possess wealth and want to fulfil your obligation to Allah correctly, this guide was written for you.
MORE THAN A GUIDE
Knowledge alone does not always create confidence. Sometimes you need practical tools. That is why I included these bonuses — turning the guide into a complete Zakāt toolkit.
Bonus One
Zakāt Calculator Worksheet
Understanding the rules is one thing. Applying them to your own wealth is another. This worksheet walks you through the entire calculation process — your savings, cash, gold, business assets, debts — step by step. Instead of guessing, you simply work through the worksheet and arrive at your Zakāt figure with confidence. For many people, this worksheet alone removes years of uncertainty.
Bonus Two
The Complete Zakāt Clarity Pack
Three practical resources that answer the questions most Muslims ask every year:
The “Am I Eligible?” Flowchart
A simple decision-making guide that helps you determine whether Zakāt is due on you this year — no complicated fiqh discussions, no information overload.
The “Zakāt on My Situation” Q&A Guide
The most common Zakāt questions asked by Nigerian Muslims — about savings, pensions, gold, business inventory, cryptocurrency, debts — answered clearly in plain language.
The Niyyah Card
The intention for Zakāt in Arabic, transliteration, and English meaning — including guidance for paying on behalf of another family member.
Bonus Three
Private Zakāt Q&A WhatsApp Community — 90 Days
Even the most detailed guide cannot anticipate every possible situation. That is why every purchaser receives exclusive access to a private WhatsApp community for 90 days — where you can ask questions specific to your own situation and receive guidance grounded in the Māliki school. No endless debates, no contradictory opinions. Just reliable, grounded answers.
Bonus Four
Zakāt Recipients Directory — Nigeria Edition
Calculating your Zakāt correctly is only part of the obligation. The other part is ensuring it reaches the people Allah intended. This directory includes trusted Zakāt organisations across Nigeria organised by location, guidance on identifying eligible recipients in your community, and how to preserve the dignity of those receiving assistance. Because Zakāt is not complete when the calculation ends — it is complete when the right people receive what Allah designated for them.

WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING
Before making Zakāt Simplified available to the public, it was shared with a small group of Muslims from different backgrounds. Here are their thoughts.
As a trader, Zakāt was always one of those obligations I took seriously, but I never felt completely confident about my calculations. This guide answered questions I had been carrying for years. By the end, I knew exactly what applied to my situation and why.
AbdulRahman O.
Business Owner
I earn a salary, contribute to a cooperative, and have some savings set aside. What stood out to me about this guide was how relevant it felt to the realities many Nigerian Muslims actually face. The explanations were clear, straightforward, and easy to follow.
Muhammad S.
Civil Servant
I have paid Zakāt for years, but if I am being honest, I was often relying on estimates. Reading this guide helped me identify areas I had never properly considered before. For the first time I felt confident calculating my Zakāt without second-guessing myself.
Ahmad A.
Engineer
THE GREATEST BENEFIT
Perhaps the greatest benefit of understanding Zakāt properly is not the calculation itself. It is what comes after.
“Alḥamdulillāh.
I fulfilled this obligation correctly.”
No second-guessing. No uncertainty. No lingering doubts. Many Muslims carry that uncertainty for years — not because they do not care, but because nobody ever explained Zakāt in a way that made complete sense. That uncertainty follows them into every Ramaḍān, every calculation, every duʿā’ for barakah in their wealth.
This guide was created to remove that uncertainty — once and for all.

ONE FINAL THOUGHT
A few weeks from now, nothing will have changed unless you take action. You could still be wondering…
❌ Without This Guide
✔ With This Guide
“Because ultimately, this is not about a guide. It is about being able to say:
Alḥamdulillāh. I did my best to fulfil this obligation correctly.
And that is a powerful feeling.”
The confusion does not have to follow you into another Ramaḍān. It does not have to follow you into another Zakāt year.
One payment. Instant access. Everything you need.
May Allah place barakah in your wealth, accept your Zakāt,
purify your earnings, and make this act a source of benefit
for you in this life and the next.
Āmīn.
